Thank you for your interest in applying for a DATCU account.

The online membership application may be completed for one person (Individual Account) or for two people (Joint Account). Applicants must be a US citizen or a permanent resident alien with a valid social security number or tax identification number; live or work within the Texas Counties of Denton, Cooke, Wise, Montague, or Clay. The primary applicant must be 18 years of age or older on individual accounts. Youth accounts are available for minors. We require that minor accounts be jointly owned with a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older.

In accordance with the requirements of the USA Patriot Act recently implemented by the United Stated Federal Government, you will be required to come in person to one of our office locations to open an account. This added identity verification helps ensure the safety and soundness of United States citizens. You may complete all the necessary membership application forms on-line, in advance to save you time. Your information will be verified and your account processed. When you come in, you will be asked to provide a valid Texas driver’s license (or valid license from the state of your current residence). If you would like to proceed and live or work within Denton, Cooke, Wise, Montague, or Clay Counties, please click on the application link below.

The list below shows you some useful information to have handy when completing your application.

Before you begin, here is what you will need:
- Drivers License, State Identification Card, US Passport, Government Issued ID, Matricula Card or Military Identification
- Social Security Number or Tax Identification Number

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, U.S. Federal law requires financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person (individuals and businesses) who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask for your driver"s license or other identifying documents.

You authorize the credit union to check your credit and employment history for the purpose of approving accounts including credit products and services. The credit union is authorized to request and use your credit reports and to answer questions about its credit experience with you. All new accounts are verified through ChexSystems.

Certification Instructions

Under penalties of perjury, I certify that:

  1. The Social Security Number entered on this application is my correct taxpayer identification number, and
  2. I am not subject to backup withholding either because: (a) I am exempt from backup withholding, or (b) I have not been notified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that I am subject to backup withholding as a result of a failure to report all interest or dividends, or (c) the Internal Revenue Service has notified me that I am no longer subject to backup withholding, and
  3. I am a U.S. Person (including a U.S. resident alien)

You must check this box, thereby deleting item 2 above if the IRS has notified you that you are currently subject to backup withholding because you have failed to report all interest and dividends on your tax return.

The Internal Revenue Service does not require your consent to any provision of this document other than the certifications required to avoid backup withholding.
